How do I select the Communications port?

1. Start AMS.
2. Select System — Setup menu option. You will be required to enter the AMS administrator password to access this function.
3. Select the Peripherals page.
4. Select RF Tag Setup.
5. Select serial port 1 or 2.
6. Click on OK to exit the RF Tag Setup window.
7. Click on Save Setup to save your changes to the setup.

Can the Interrogator share the same communications port with the BCR?

Yes, with an “A/B” switch. However, the BCR Communications software requires full time access to the communications port so you must close the BCR communication software before attempting to write to or read a RF tag.

Can I write Sealtag and Version 3 style tags with the Interrogator?

Yes.

How do I set this up in the AMS setup?

1. Start AMS.
2. Select System — Setup menu option. You will be required to enter the AMS administrator password to access this function.
3. Select the Peripherals page.
4. Select RF Tag Setup.
   1. Select RF Interrogator. Enter the last four digits of the interrogator’s serial number as the serial number.
   2. Select serial port 1 or 2.
   3. Select the bus type, RS-485 or RS-232. RS-485 is the default.
   4. Select read check yes or no. Yes is the default.
   5. Click on OK.
5. Click on Save Setup to save your changes to the setup.
6. Click on Re-protect Setup.
