In what order should my equipment be powered up?

AMS can be configured to operate in two modes, “Single User” where you have only one AMS system operating or “Multi-User” where you have one AMS system acting as a File Server and one or more AMS systems operating as workstations, sharing data stored on the AMS server.

In “Single User” mode you should power up the AMS hardware in the following order:

1. OMC Reader/Writer. This ensures that the Windows NT/2000 operating system recognizes the Reader/Writer and assigns it to drive “L:”.
2. PC.

In “Multi-User” mode you should power up the AMS hardware in the following order:

1. AMS File Server.
   Note: If there is an OMC Reader/Writer connected to the File Server, it should be started up first.
2. AMS Workstations.
   Note: If there is an OMC Reader/Writer connected to any of the workstations, it should be started up first.

Note: If any of your AMS workstations lose their connection to the AMS File Server, you should shut down the entire AMS network and then restart as described.
