Frequently Asked Questions
Savi Version 3 Tag Docking Station
Why does my connect light not lit?
The connect light is on when there is power to the docking station and the pins on the tag have made contact with the pins in the dock. If the connect light is not on, check the following:
What does “Baud rate is not at maximum” mean?
It means that the dock is not transferring data to the tag at the
maximum speed. This can occur when the dock is not connected to its power
supply, the power supply is defective or the power supply is not plugged
in to a power source. When this occurs, the docking station first tries
to draw power from the PC and then from any tag that was left in the dock.
NOTE: if you turn off your equipment and leave a tag in the docking
station, the docking station will draw power from the tag’s battery and
drain it.
To check the power supply, ensure that the power supply is plugged in to a power source and the back of the docking station, remove any tags from the dock, and disconnect the RS-232 cable that goes to the PC. If the power light stays on, the power supply is OK. If the power light slowly fades away, the power supply is defective.
How do I select the Communications port?
Can the Docking Station share the same communications port with the BCR?
Yes, with an “A/B” switch. However, the BCR Communications software requires full time access to the communications port so you must close the BCR communication software before attempting to write to or read a RF tag.
Can I write the sealtags with this docking station?
No, the dimensions of the sealtag are different that the version 3 dimensions.
How do I set this up in the AMS setup?
What is the lever on the side used for?
It was intended to be an adjustment for tags of different thicknesses. However, Version 3 tags are all the same size. You should only adjust the lever the first time you use it.
